Home FAQ Catheters What is the difference between an animal catheter and a human (clinical) catheter?
Answer: In principle there is no functional difference. All the clinical catheters are FDA-cleared to market in the US and CE-marked in Europe and thus comply with the Medical Device Directive. But, these catheters can also be used in animals and, after cleaning/sterilisation, be used again in animals. The only limitations are that these catheters have a pigtail (most animal catheters don't) and normally the French-size is too big to be used in smaller animals. The CD Leycom catheters, however are available in 4, 6 and 7 French and can also be used in large dogs, sheep and pigs.
